A circular wall with five towers protected the upper castle. At the market square, we recommend taking a look at the <b>Church of St. George<\/b> and the <b>Ludwig Chapel<\/b>. The route starts along the town wall and, for a while, along the country road. After 1.8 km, turn left and then immediately left again. You now cross the <b>vineyards<\/b> and head towards the ruins of Wachtenburg Castle. There you can enjoy the view over Wachenheim and the surrounding vineyards.<\/p>\n<p>The ascent to the <b>castle ruins<\/b> is steep, but the view makes up for the effort in any case and if you wish, you can stop off at the <b>castle tavern<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>For the way back, follow the path uphill for a short distance before descending again after the bend. On the outskirts of Wachenheim, you reach the Sch\u00f6nste Weinsicht and have a wonderful view of the castle ruins.
