Heidelberg

“I lost my heart in Heidelberg…”

ROMANTICALLY LOCATED
ON THE NECKAR

“A city that is worth every love affair” is what you can read about Heidelberg. And old song lyrics also say: “I lost my heart in Heidelberg…”
The city is nestled between the river Neckar
and the foothills of the Odenwald and captivates
with its with its dreamy romance around the castle and
the the Old Bridge.

It goes without saying that as soon as visitors arrive in Heidelberg, they immediately want to see the castle 70 meters above the Neckar on the hillside. The Heidelberg cable car takes you quickly from the “Kornmarkt” in the historical center up to the castle, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Heidelberg and the Neckar valley. Tip: If you want to go further up after visiting the castle, you can experience something special. From the station “Molkenkur” you can take one of the oldest electrically operated cable cars to the Königstuhl, the highest point in the city, at an altitude of over 550 meters.

The best place for shopping is in the picturesque alleyways of the old town: in the untere Straße, in Steingasse,
in Haspelgasse, or in Märzgasse.
The car-free main street Hauptstraße – lined with bistros, cafés and restaurants – is one of the longest and most beautiful pedestrian zones in Europe and Heidelberg’s shopping mile par excellence. In addition to renowned chain stores, there are also interesting owner-managed small shops between Bismarckplatz and Marktplatz.
